During my time as a production intern at Final Frontier Design, I helped construct their newest commercial EVA Space Suit and liquid cooling vest. I worked side by side with their in-house pattern maker and gained a deeper understanding of patterning for utility, durability, and uncommon forms.
Over the course of several tests in September and October 2019, FFD validated operation of their updated EVA space suit. The suit includes an advanced liquid cooling garment, bearings along the right arm, functional ventilation ducts and pressure garment, removable gloves, and an integrated sensor system. FFD spent 2 years in development of their new Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) space suit prototype.
