Renegade is a California-based run specialty store built at the nexus of community, performance, and activism. Founded in 2020 by former educator Victor Diaz, Renegade draws inspiration from the creative voices of their community and continually pushes the limits of what the running world can create by and for the people. By partnering with the best brands in the world, Renegade has redefined what it means to center their work on the needs of the community.
Growing up, Victor never used words like “up-cycling” or “sustainability” or “thrifting.” To the contrary, this language was pejorative, calling upon his associations with hand-me-downs or the “segunda” second-hand stores in his Mexican neighborhood. While kids like him experienced shame wearing “other people’s recycled clothes,” in retrospect, there is much beauty and reverence to the stitched-up, patched-on clothes our mothers repaired before sending us out of the house.
This collaboration between Nike ReCreate and Renegade celebrates Victor’s heritage and achievements through a fully upcycled, running-inspired collection.
